If you haven't already, please sign up to receive our free monthly e-letter, "Like" us on Facebook, and "Follow" us on Twitter. Besides being great ways of keeping on top of the latest gluten-free dining and travel updates, joining our online community in any of these three ways will automatically enter you in our end-of-the-month drawing to win a T-shirt, shorts, or sweatpants with the slogan, "These Buns Are Gluten Free!" We'll give three items away -- one to a new Twitter follower, one to a new fan on Facebook, and one to a new subscriber to our free monthly e-letter. Wear them with pride or give them to a gluten-free friend with a sense of humor! On a separate note, be sure to also cast your vote in our annual "World's Most Celiac-Friendly Destination" contest by submitting a review for your favorite "gluten-free friendly" restaurant in your area -- or your favorite restaurant, hotel, or resort you've discovered while on vacation. I have the pleasure of being a member of the DC Celiacs support group, and through this group, I met a woman named Marion who has been working feverishly to develop a near-perfect gluten free muffin mix and lemon bar mix. After having had the opportunity to sample her treats at several group meetings -- and trying both mixes myself at home -- I can’t say enough about the quality and taste of Marion’s Smart Delights Gluten Free Cookie and Muffin Baking Mix and her Gluten Free Lemon Bar Mix. The variety of baked goods you can create with Marion's muffin mix is almost endless (she includes many delicious recipes on her website). I've personally tried the chocolate chip muffins, vegan orange chocolate chip muffins, and the shortbread cookies. The mix is not only gluten-free, but free of ALL 8 major allergens! Another thing that sets this versatile gluten-free baking mix apart from all the others is that it’s the only one that incorporates so many sources of whole grain (millet, amaranth, quinoa, and timtane), making your baked goods healthy as well as delicious. Gluten Free Restaurants: Fantastic gluten-free menu at Bruschetta restaurant in Surrey, England

Our Featured Review on GlutenFreeTravelSite this month takes us to England, where our winning reviewer was truly "wowed" by the treat that awaited her at a local restaurant. Expecting to have the usual choices of grilled meat or fish as she often does when dining out, she "had one of the best surprises of her life" at Bruschetta restaurant in Surrey, England. Choices on their extensive gluten-free menu include homemade gluten-free pizzas, pasta, risotto, antipasti, and delectable desserts. Having grown up with an Italian mother who prided herself in creating traditional Italian dishes, our reviewer had had a hard time with her Celiac diagnosis years ago. This was the first time she was able to truly enjoy gluten-free pasta and other Italian favorites like her mom used to make. In addition to the incredible food, our winning reviewer raved about Julia, the owner, and her commitment to avoiding cross-contamination in preparing gluten-free meals. (She herself is gluten-intolerant.) Julia shows a real personal devotion to the gluten-free community, which, coupled with her amazing food and reasonable prices, attracts gluten-free diners from all over England. Read more details about Bruschetta and the recommended menu choices in our Featured Review. Don't forget to... Read more →
