Have you ever experienced the frustration of having a meal ruined by cross contamination from serving spoons used for something containing gluten or peanuts? Maybe you've had this happen during a holiday meal at a relative's house...an item that was indeed gluten free somehow got contaminated by someone using a serving spoon from a gluten-containing item. Or maybe you've prepared two batches of pasta in your own house -- one for gluten-free members of the family and one for non-GF folks. Somehow the spoons for stirring and serving the pasta get mixed up, and the dinner is ruined for the gluten-free people.
And if you're dealing with an allergy to peanuts, the need to keep serving utensils straight can be even more important, since people with allergies can have an immediate and anaphylactic reaction.
That's why Wendy Krakower, founder of The Food Allergy Kitchenware Company, introduced two special, high-quality stainless steel spoons for families with gluten and/or peanut sensitivities. They have a special stamping on the tip of the handle indicating gluten free or peanut free, helping whomever is cooking or serving your meals keep things safe.
I first wrote about Wendy's products back in May, and now she's offered us a chance to give a few away to our followers. We will give one of each (one spoon for GF and one for peanut-free) to one winner, and one GF spoon to another winner. All you need to do to enter is either:
1.) Leave a comment on one of my many other recent Gluten Free Travel Blog posts (in the past month I've done a 10-part Blog series on gluten free travel to London, shared a "winning" recipe for a decadent gluten free "Chocolate Explosion" cake, talked about an Inn in Napa that's totally gluten free, offered recommendations for dining gluten free in Pittsburgh, and waxed poetic about Wildfire restaurant's amazing gluten free menu). So take a look at a post, and leave a comment (please have it be another post, not this one). You can even comment on more than one post. Each comment will count as one entry in our random drawing to select a winner of the spoon SET (one GF spoon, one peanut-free spoon).
2.) LIKE our GlutenFreeTravelSite Facebook page. Each new fan will be entered into a random drawing to select a winner of one GF spoon.
You may enter EACH contest (by commenting on our Blog posts AND Liking our Facebook page). The contest will end at 11:59 pm EST this Friday, March 7, 2014. Good luck, and we look forward to hearing from you!
