Rockfish Seafood Grill, with 13 locations in Texas, is a must-try spot if you're gluten free. You won't be bored with starters like Mexican Shrimp Martini, Ahi Tuna Nachos, or Roasted Jalapeno Cream Soup! Several entree salads grace the Gluten Free Menu, along with everyone's favorite fish selections, prepared either grilled or blackened with a choice of plenty of gluten free sides. And this isn't an ordinary preparation of fish, either...5 different sauces -- all gluten free -- suit any taste or mood. How about trying their unique Pontchartrain Sauce? (Perhaps you can, if you win the $25 Gift Card...more on that at the bottom of this post.) If you're more of a land-lubber, no worries...there's a Flat Iron Steak (which can also be combined into a "Field and Stream" combo with shrimp or scallops). There's also chicken, served grilled or blackened. And don't forget the gluten free creme brulee for dessert! If you visit on a Wednesday or Saturday, you'll also benefit from the half-priced bottles of wine! If you've missed the last few Gluten Free Culinary Getaways sponsored by Jovial Foods in Tuscany, Italy, you have another chance to experience their week of pure bliss...from October 11-18, 2014. Ah...the Fall in Tuscany...what could be more magical? Similar to their previous gluten free getaways, this week-long experience will find you staying in an 18th century villa in Lucca, Italy -- the heart of Tuscany. You'll learn how to cook traditional Italian specialties from Carla, the founder of Jovial Foods, who learned to cook from the older genration of Italians over the past 25 years. Best of all, everything you make and savor will be gluten free! Imagine learning to make authentic, artisan breads and pastas gluten free. You'll bring this knowledge back with you to impress your family and friends for years to come! The week is the perfect balance between Old World charm and modern amenities at the villa (like their state-of-the-art kitchen) and also the perfect balance between learning, relaxation, and exploring. For those interested, there is the option of day-trips by car, bus, or train to nearby favorites like Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre, and Siena. Carla's hands-on cooking classes will make you feel like you're... Read more →

Picazzo's Organic Italian Kitchen, a popular chain of five Arizona restaurants, sets the bar high for food with a focus on taste and quality -- and an impressive range of healthy, gluten free offerings. In fact, Picazzo's has what is arguably one of the most extensive menus of gluten free options available at an Italian restaurant. I kid you not when I say it would be worth a trip to Arizona just to dine at a Picazzo's Organic Italian Kitchen! (Read on to learn how you can win a $25 Gift Card to use at one of their restaurants...). Years ago, Picazzo's switched all their pasta to a gluten free variety, and just recently, they made the switch to RP's Pasta, a fresh (not dried) variety of gluten free pasta that also happens to be free of GMOs (which is becoming more important to many consumers, including myself). In fact, this is one of the reasons the owner of Picazzo's, Rick Freedman, decided to make the switch to RP's Pasta. He liked the texture and taste profile -- as well as the fact that it did not contain GMOs. Picazzo's uses five of their pasta products, including their gluten free... Read more →

I had the privelege late last week of being interviewed on Jules Shepard's Gluten Free Voice radio show on Blog Talk Radio. Jules is a gluten-free expert, author, coach, and advocate, and she hosted me on her show to discuss summer travel -- and gluten free travel in general. In our discussion, I recommended particular destinations and types of trips that work well for people following gluten free diets. I also shared information about all the valuable resources availalble on our website, GlutenFreeTravelSite, and Dine Gluten Free app -- many of which you may not be aware. So tune in to this 30 minute can start listening and even pause it if you can't listen to it all at once. As always, please let me know if there are any questions you have about gluten free dining or travel. You can leave a Comment below or even visit our Facebook page and post a question. Read more →

About nine months ago, I first had the opportunity to try many of Lovely Lady Products line of gluten free skin and hair care products. I'll admit I have a weak spot for high-quality, natural skin care products, so I was hooked. These plant-based products smell heavenly, and I was impressed with the results I noticed in my skin's appearance and texture. Now Lovely Lady is offering a 10% savings on all their products to friends of GlutenFreeTravelSite and the Gluten Free Travel Blog, so you can try some of these incredible products for yourself (more on that in a minute...). What makes Lovely Lady so unique and effective? It starts with what they DON'T use in their products... The company was founded by Cheryl Caspi, a former model diagnosed with Celiac Disease. So naturally, the products don't contain any gluten. Cheryl believes that the purity of what we put on our bodies is as important as what we put in our bodies, so all ingredients are organic. None of the formulations contain any GMOs, dyes, synthetic perfumes or fragrances, colors, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, petroleum, artificial preservatives, propylene glycol, or sodium laureth sulfate. Another thing you won't find in Lovely... Read more →
