Gluten Free Travel: This Travel Agent Will Take Care of Your Gluten Free Needs
November 18, 2012
I"m often asked about tips for planning a successful gluten free vacation, and there's quite a long list of advice I share, beginning with suggesting a visit to our website, GlutenFreeTravelSite, where you can search user-submitted gluten free dining and travel reviews by location. But frankly, there are times when you simply don't have the time or desire to do all the planning yourself. You want someone to take it off your plate. But who? Who will have your gluten free needs in mind?
I was priviledged many years ago to be put in touch with Lesley Hayden at Travel Leaders travel agency. She works in their Boston area office, and although I've never met her in person, she's helped to plan many trips for our family. The nice thing about working with a travel agent -- in addition to having someone to do the legwork for you -- is that it doesn't cost you a thing. In fact, in most cases, they can actually SAVE you money but having access to deals you might not be able to find on your own.
Lesley has developed a great knowledge of what is involved in planning trips for her gluten free clientele and has earned rave reviews from her clients. One gluten free traveler commented, "Lesley is delightful to work with. She is not only extremely knowledgeable about all things relating to travel, but has the personality to help you through any concerns, or freak out moments, you might have about your trip. One of my major fears was not having gluten free choices in Eastern Europe, and Lesley offered options to help me navigate my dietary challenges. I even had gluten free draft beer in Prague! We highly recommend her services."
Another client explained the legwork Lesley does on behalf of her clients: "Lesley called the resort and discussed my needs with the Head Chef. After she confirmed that they could accommodate my dietary needs, she then contacted me for my approval to book a reservation. Lesley then arranged our vacation and a meeting with the head chef upon our arrival. She even called the resort again one week before I was to arrive to confirm my gluten free requirements and my meeting with the Head Chef."
If you're new to following a gluten free diet -- or even a long-time gluten free veteran who's starved for time -- give Lesley a call at 800-487-6110 when you're ready to plan a trip. Whether it's a domestic or international vacation -- or even a cruise -- Lesley would be delighted to help you. You can also read more about her on Travel Leaders' website and email her directly at [email protected]. I promise you'll be in good hands!
