Don't Miss Out on All the Resources of GlutenFreeTravelSite and the Dine Gluten Free Mobile App

We're always adding helpful content, updating resources, and improving the functionality of GlutenFreeTravelSite and our free companion mobile app, Dine Gluten Free. But for those of you who haven't visited for a while -- or may not be aware of all the ways these valuable resources can help you DINE & TRAVEL gluten free more easily, we thought it might be time for a reminder...

First Stop (if you need it): An Overview

Celiac Disease green ribbonUnder the RESOURCES tab within the navigation bar on our website, there's a section of the site called About Celiac & Gluten Sensitivity that contains 12 "chapters" of information that are helpful to both new and veteran gluten free folks. And if you have friends or family members that need to understand your diet better, send them a link to this page for answers to the questions they may have (sometimes it's easier when it comes from an impartial source!). Also, if you have a friend that suspects gluten may be adversely affecting their health, by all means, pass along this information to them. It could provide the spark that leads them to get tested.

We've tried to make the explanations about Celiac, gluten sensitivity, and a gluten free diet easy to understand, and we aim to clear up some myths and misinformation that get spread by people that are uninformed -- especially in these days of the gluten free diet often being labeled a "fad." You'll also find advice on finding a doctor and asking for the right tests, grocery shopping and eating at home, dining out and traveling safely, kids and Celiac Disease, and a "Best Of" list of some of our favorite GF products. Registered dietician and nutritionists love to pass along these resources to their GF clients. Visit this section of our site...

Here's another equally beneficial way we can help you...

Use our Site and App to FIND (and read about) The Best Places for GF Dining & Travel

Screen Shot 2015-09-28 at 2.17.37 PMThere are TWO ways to find -- and read reviews of -- GF-friendly spots on our website and app: Either do a narrow Search by town or zip code (your search will yield results like this search for NYC) OR do a broader search by state/province/region/country.

You'll find reviews of restaurants, bakeries, markets, B&Bs, resorts, hotels, and even cruises. For those of you who only feel comfortable eating at restaurants, cafes, and bakeries that are 100% dedicated gluten free establishments, you'll find that those are marked with a special icon.

If you'd like to learn about some very GF-friendly CHAIN restaurants -- with locations where you live or may be traveling -- be sure to visit our Gluten-Free Restaurant Menus page.

You can also help the GF community by submitting reviews of your own -- of restaurants, bakeries, markets, hotels, resorts, cruises (even colleges and camps!) that offer gluten free options. You can submit review on our website -- or right from the app as you're finishing up a meal.

Each month, we choose a particularly helpful recent review to showcase on our Featured Review page (and a prize goes to the reviewer!). You'll find places featured in the past in our Archives. If you're looking for travel inspiration, you'll also find past winners of our "World's Most Celiac-Friendly Destination" contest on our site.

We Introduce You to Endless Possibilities for Gluten-Free Friendly Travel...

Travel Leaders cruise shipOur mission is to help you take a true vacation from worry...to find those places where you won't have to educate the chef or ask a zillion questions before each meal...places that give you confidence and let you relax. We constantly add travel opportunities to our Gluten Free Getaways page (and also share the news here on our Gluten Free Travel Blog). No matter what you're in the mood for -- a group tour, a customized itinerary for your family, a culinary-focused getaway, or an active adventure, you'll likely find something that appeals to you on this page.

I'd also encourage you to visit our Trip Planning page for recommendations about gluten free travel specialists and tour companies that can help, whether you're interested in a domestic or international getaway. I've personally worked with some of these individuals, and they've helped hundreds of other GF folks travel with ease. It makes a huge difference when you have someone knowledgeable to help with the planning and legwork that any trip involves! The specialists are available to help you at little or no cost to you, since they work on commissions.

If cruises are your thing, I'd recommend visiting our Cruise page which details the gluten free policies of all the major cruise lines -- and a sampling of reviews we've received of each.

Other Helpful Places to Look for Guidance on our Site...

Travel Leaders Italian streetOur Articles page has links to dozens of helpful articles I've written, including in my role as Associate Editor of Simply Gluten Free magazine. Get dining and travel advice...plus read restaurant profiles, book reviews, chef interviews, and articles about GF-friendly destinations.

If you'll have a GF college student in the next couple years, have him or her check out our Gluten Free College Reviews page with reviews of many college's GF dining programs. Find out which colleges rate well -- and encourage any GF college students you know to submit their own reviews to help GF high school students as they begin their own college evaluation process.

Our Gluten Free Camps page is for slightly younger kids -- see how many camps, in virtually all parts of the country, now offer gluten free campers safe dining options. We typically update this page with the next summer's dates and pricing beginning in January.

You'll find all sorts of other helpful information within our Resources section -- and by following this Gluten Free Travel Blog (if you haven't already subscribed to our Blog feed, enter your email at the top of the right-hand column on this page).
