Travel to Chile...Gluten Free!

Every couple months, we work with Ellen Morse of Gluten Free Travel-Us to bring you a new gluten free itinerary. We try to offer something for every type of traveler: ever-popular destinations like Italy...newer "hot spots" like Cuba...once-in-a-lifetime experiences like The Galapagos...and "up-and-coming" destinations that have been gaining favor. Chile is one of those destinations. Due to the stable nature of its government, its unique history, and its gorgeous topography sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains, Chile is a destination you'll want to consider. And because its seasons are opposite ours in the northern hemisphere, it's an especially great place to visit during October through April, when average temperatures in Chile are in the 60s. Near-perfect weather, in my opinion!

Chili scenery shot

Chile offers incredible scenery and natural beauty. You'll fall in love with its awe-inspiring topography of forests, mountains, beaches, lakes, volcanoes, fjords, canals, and islands. Plus, its history -- dating from the native Incans to the Spanish Colonial period to a thriving modern country -- offers a fascinating blend of cultures. Increasingly recognized for its vineyards, Chile is also the perfect destination for oenophiles who enjoy tours and tastings at scenic wineries. For travelers with safety top-of-mind, Chile is one of South America's most stable and prosperous nations, and the Chilean people are welcoming and friendly.

The suggested itinerary for travel throughout Chile, which you'll find laid out day-by-day on our Chile page on GlutenFreeTravelSite, has been designed by Ellen Morse, in conjunction with Condor Tours. The week-long journey, with the ability to be customized according to your interests, covers all the most important historical sites, as well as visits to areas of breathtaking scenery. You'll experience Santiago and other cities, museums, art galleries, beautiful architecture, ports, vineyards, historical sites from the Inca and Spanish Colonial period, churches, unique landscapes, waterfalls, volcanoes, national parks, beaches, sailing, and the warm hospitality of the Chilean people. If you have an interest in adding on a visit to Patagonia, that can be arranged, too.

Cliff and mountains Chile

Best of all, you can do all this while safely following your gluten free diet, thanks to travel specialist Ellen, who is Celiac herself. She and her Latin American contacts at Condor Tours have vetted all the hotels and restaurants to keep you food-safe every single day. Most meals are included in her suggested itinerary, and Ellen will guide you in choosing safe places for the other meals. This Chilean itinerary includes accommodations, transfers, tours, and most meals. As with all Ellen's trips, this is not a group tour and can be tailored to your own interests, budget, and desired length of stay.
