Gluten Free Magazines

Have you attended any of the gluten-free Expos around the country? There are several companies that host them, and we share them on our Dine Gluten Free mobile app, under GF Events. Unfortunately, if you don't live in a city where they're held (and aren't in the position to travel to one), you're out of luck. Or maybe you're like me…there's a good one held annually here in the Washington, DC area, but I haven't always been able to attend, due to family commitments and other scheduling conflicts. It's reasons like these that inspired the folks at Simply Gluten-Free magazine to launch a VIRTUAL Gluten-Free EXPO…one that you can attend right from the comfort of your own home -- and at any time that's convenient for you! Although not exactly like being "on the floor" of a live expo, you'll enjoy many of the same benefits…access to free samples, coupons, and engaging information from gluten-free experts. I've always enjoyed shopping at Wegmans, especially for meat and specialty items. However, the closest one is 20 minutes from my home, so I don't typically shop there on a weekly basis. But two exciting things have happened lately: 1.) Wegmans has a new dedicated area for gluten free products -- shelf stable as well as frozen -- in the center of their store. We've been able to find the majority of our favorite brands and products here, which helps reduce the need for shopping at multiple stores to find the gluten free items our family likes. 2.) I've discovered that many of Wegmans' mouth-watering recipes in their Menu magazine are gluten free -- or can very easily be tailored to be gluten free with some simple substitutions. (Menu magazines are mailed free to you when you sign up for a Wegmans shoppers club loyalty card. Their recipes are also available free online.) Have you had a chance to preview the new SIMPLY GLUTEN FREE Magazine? It debuted with the November/December Holiday issue and has been a smashing success (which may explain why you may have missed's been flying off newsstands!). Started by Carol Kicinski, founder of the Simply Gluten Free recipe and lifestyle website and blog, the bi-monthly magazine by the same name brings together top allergen free bloggers and writers in each issue. I'm honored to be an Associate Editor and will be contributing an article to each issue. The January/February issue features an article I wrote about Gluten Free Cruising. Rather than focus on deprivation, SIMPLY GLUTEN FREE Magazine celebrates the abundance of a gluten free and allergen free life, focusing on providing simple solutions to the challenges gluten free people of all ages face.
